How to write files on DVD-Rs?

It may seem a bit foolish to you but due to my lack of knowledge in technology I need some help on writing files on DVD-Rs. Actually I borrowed some files of a series of TV shows from one of my friend. But now when she needs it back I thought I should make a back up of these files and therefore I copied it on my desktop. I already had an empty DVD-R which is 1-4X Multispeed and 4.7GB/120min, but I don’t know how to write those file on the disk. I tried to follow each and every step I had in my way to write these files on the DVD but failed to do. IS there any way I can write these files on my DVD?

I am going to tell you the whole procedure which i always use while I have to write files on DVD-Rs. Thsi is the best procedure as the easiest also. It is very short that's why it is the easiest and safest. Insert one blank DVD-R in your computer so that your picture files can be burned to it. Select your Burn Files to the Data Disc option when one dialogue box appears asking what you would like to do with the blank DVD-R. Name your disc to just represent your picture files you will then be burning to DVD-R. Then just click on show formatting options. Choose on the Mastered option and then click on the Next. A blank burn folder will appear after doing so. Drag your picture files which you would like to just write to DVD-R in this folder. Click on the burn to disc when you are just finished adding the picture files to the folder. Eject your DVD-R when this is the burning process which is complete. This is the whole process.
