World’s fastest lift to travel 3281 feet in a minute

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has announced a technology to build the world’s fastest lift for the under-construction Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, China. The elevator is projected to travel 3281 feet in just a minute. Mitsubishi plans to introduce the fastest elevator technology to the futuristic lifts in new skyscrapers across the world.

The company will use the technology in several lifts in the Shanghai Tower, a 632-meter structure. According to Mitsubishi, the growing height of skyscrapers requires fastest lifts to let people reach offices or residences quickly.

Amid the rising urban population, it is highly necessary that there will be more ultra-fast lifts for people to travel in towering buildings. Mitsubishi plans to use power-efficient magnetic motors and a technique for little vibration for travelers in its high speed lifts.

In addition, there will be an air pressure control to decrease atmospheric changes inside the elevators. Mitsubishi is as well to deploy a high sound insulation cage and aerodynamic cover respectively to reduce the noise and to ensure efficient travel up and down.

The lift will also provide better security for people. The company will utilize ceramic as one major material in the safety gears so that it can resist shocks, heat and abrasion. At the base of the elevator, a hydraulic oil buffer will act as an advanced shock absorber to provide a smooth experience for users.

The fastest lift in the world can only be tested when the Shanghai Tower project opens in 2014.
