Windows xp taskkill not working?

I have an old desktop which is running on windows XP and it is still going strong. There are some processing issues with that but I am handling those quite well. These days I am facing a little problem as my taskkill command is not working and because of that I am not able to end certain processes and my computer is running slow. If someone have any idea or know how to fix windows xp taskkill ……I would really appreciate …..thanks a lot

Task manager is a tool in windows that checks all the processes running on your computer and to kill the processes which are not running smoothly. But some people get difficulty even in killing the tasks which are running in task manager so for that you can do it in ms dos. Sometimes the task manager won’t open because of a virus or administrator setting or another problem but you can view or stop processes from the command line. For that Click Start then hit Run. In the Run dialog box type cmd to open a command prompt. At the command prompt type tasklist and press enter. Now you can see all your running processes. Find the offending one and note the PID number in the second column. Then type tskill a space and the PID number and hit enter and the process will be stopped. So this how the process goes……..
