what is windows 7 elevated mode chkdsk?

My hard disk malfunctions a lot so I ran hardware diagnostics test but it did not show any problem. Then I thought of running a disk check using chkdsk /e with a command prompt but got the message that I needed to be in elevated mode. What does that mean? Does that mean safe mode? Tell me how to run it?

Actually the elevated mode means nothing unique as its name, elevated mode means that the command prompt should be run as a Administrator from that computer. In the operating systems like Windows Vista and Windows 7 the elevated mode is the mode where administrator privileges and rights are present for secure handling of data. The security features in Windows 7 and Windows Vista comes with User Access Control (UAC) which will launch the all processes in the restricted mode unless users specifically accept the elevation confirmation. The reason why without running the command prompt in the elevated mode if you want to run some commands its shows access denied error or it refuse to run. Here is the tips to open the command prompt in the elevated mode(not safe mode).Goto Windows 7 Start button. Then put mouse over the All Programs then go to Accessories, now under the Accessories you will see the command prompt.Rignt click on the command prompt. On pop up menu select Run as Administrator. After selecting you are now on Administrator, now type the command only “chkdsk” only, see it will run.And if any bad sector arrises then to fix this bad sectors run “chkdsk/f” only. There is no command like “chkdisk/e”.
