Vintage Apple: eMate 300 Prototype with clear case now up for grabs

There is no dearth of people out there who love their Apple gadgets. While some of us fall in that category, there are others who just seem to despise ‘everything Apple’ for reasons only they understand. At the end of the day, reality falls somewhere in between. But we are not discussing the merits and demerits of Apple and its business model here; we simply are showcasing one of the collectibles that comes from the past. The eMate 300 was introduced as a low-cost laptop way back in 1997 and while that lasted about a year, all of them did come out in a dark green.

But a few of the eMate 300 models were designed in purple, red, orange and the clear casing that we see here. This is one of the very few ones left on the planet. In fact, currently being sold on eBay, there are six or maybe even fewer such eMate 300 models. Apple only made them as prototypes and they were never meant for production. And that makes this eMate 300 with a clear case a very worthy addition to your vintage Apple collection. And if you do not have one, then this surely a nice way to start!

It comes in pretty good condition and you even get an eMate stylus and all. It is still working on Apple Newton and if you want to take it home and display it proudly, then be ready to part with a good chunk of green. You will have to shell out $8,499.99 for this one. Yup, a bit too steep for us but maybe not for some of you out there.
