usps mail box guidelines?

I moved to South Carolina and thinking of installing a mailbox and need some guidelines on how to save it from the daily wear and tear and constant assault from the rogue elements. So guys provide me useful guidelines that will help me to set up a usps mailbox that stands tall in all conditions?

Mailbox is of great importance to every body and I am sure it’s the same for you too. USPS has laid down various guidelines which you will need to follow to set a mail box. If you buy a mailbox as per your requirement then please see if the mailbox has Postmaster General seal on it. Your mail box should have your apartment number on it.

USPS website clearly says that support to curbside mailbox should be safe and secure so that when any car hits, it should fall or bend. In areas where it snows, you should use semi-arch support so that heavy does not knock the mail box down. The mailbox has to taste every weather hence you will need to do regular maintenance of it. You should paint the rusted part of the mailbox or tighten the hinges of mail box attached to the door. You should re-mount the support if its giving way or repaint the house number on the mail box. The mail boxes get a good beating in winter hence you should maintenance in Spring. The best way to keep you mail box safe and secure is to follow the USPS guidelines on quality of mailbox.
