I am in pursuit of linux dvd ripper software that is written in Perl which is front end for transcode and ffmpeg. It should provide me an easy to use Gtk+ GUI control to almost all facets of the ripping and transcoding process. So tell me guys which one is the best software in the market for linux dvd ripper?

Ripping a DVD is to read everything on that record, the chapters of the video, sounds, subtitles and create a video in a single file, readable on all computers, and much smaller. For example, ripping a DVD movie video could be getting a 700MB AVI format for burning onto a CD.

The struggle and the artists of this subject are when trying to get the highest possible quality, speed up until the last half meg of video, audio include dual.

I had always heard that Ubuntu Linux needed a good application for this task because there were none that worked really well. I've never ripped a DVD, and I know what justito codecs, containers, etc.. However, I did try the program for dvd rip and I was very surprised, because with four clicks I got my DVD rip and encode to an AVI file of 650 MB, and looking luxurious.

I can not comment much on all the options and parameters provided by this program, only understand the main, so I'm just going to do a manual based on screenshots of how the Ripper in Ubuntu Linux using the program dvd rip.

First we have to install the program, and we will do by Automatix2. Download the package. Deb depending on your version of Ubuntu:

Maverick like the previous version of Ubuntu includes a new command which facilitates the task of adding repositories from the console.

Repositories are websites from which you install applications. Often happen that you want to install a particular application and operating system will show an error that "can not find the package." This is probably due to trying to install an application and do not have a repository that allows you to access

The solution is to add the appropriate repository, update the repository list to associate applications know-Ubuntu repositories and install it again. You can manage repositories with Synaptic, Ubuntu-tweak (you will see later) or manually by editing as user "root" your / etc / apt / sources.list and add the lines of the repository.

This was the normal way to add a new repository, but now with this command becomes easier. This command is: add-apt-repository (and use it often in the rest of the section).

And automatically handles add this repository to our /etc / apt / sources. List and import the key from the repository.
