TargetScale: A Scale that measures Bone, Muscle Mass

Forget those drab scales that only tell you your weight. A health company called Medisana (based in Germany) has come with a state-of-the-art scale that can actually measure weight, muscle mass and body fat for up to three users!

The website that showcases this revolutionary scale (dubbed the TargetScale Body Analysis Scale) claims that users can attain their target body weight faster by keeping tabs on the comprehensive information this device outputs.

How does the TargetScale Body Analysis Scale work? Coupled with a smartphone app, this scale tracks the Basic Metabolic Index and also the Body Mass Index to give the perfect measurement of a wide variety of factors. The body fat measurement is not something new, but it is a useful addition. What is definitely new and innovative is the scale’s ability to present a perfect picture of the body’s makeup with regards to bone, muscle and water mass. The scale also comes with Bluetooth to communicate with the iPhone/iPad sister app called VitaDock.

Medisana claims that their TargetScale Body Analysis Scale can precisely determine the BMI, body bone, muscle and water mass to up to four users and can recognize the separate users. It comes with an active matrix display and results are displayed digitally with bright flashing circles that display changes in any of the categories (weight, BMI etc). In addition, the scale has a balance detection system to ascertain that the body weight has been evenly distributed on both feet. The device also comes with an “Athlete Mode” designed specifically for athletes. The scale also acquires added functionalities (like tracking body weight and BMI changes) when coupled with the VitaDock app.

The TargetScale Body Analysis Scale is not something new. There are scales in the market that have similar functionality. But what sets it apart is the new set of features and the app support.
