Super-high 2880 x 1800 resolution Apple MacBook Pros coming soon

Apple has done everything it could to differentiate its line of laptops, the MacBook Pro, from dozens of other "PCs" available. But it looks like anything and everything Apple does is copied, or in a few cases made substantially better. So now Apple's got another trick up its sleeve; a super-high resolution display for its MacBook Pro lineup. The new MacBook Pro update for quarter 2, 2012 would contain a display with a maximum resolution of 2880x1880. This resolution would exceed even Full HD resolution displays, and the pixel density would be astonishing in these notebooks. The 13-inch MacBook Pro would have an insane pixel density of 261 ppi. The 15-incher would get 226 ppi of density whereas the 17-incher would get 200 ppi.

This is not just the only thing Apple has got on its card. The new MacBook Pro might borrow the aesthetic appeal of its younger brother, the MacBook Air. This would make the MacBook Pro a slim and light powerhouse for professionals who need it. The new design might mean a switch over to an SSD-only configuration. While this may decrease boot-up and resume time substantially and make the system more snappy; it will also drive the price of the MacBook Pro up. Apple would probably resolve this my re-introducing their MacBook lineup or a 15 inch MacBook Air.

The optical drive might disappear altogether, the side-effect of having such a slim chassis. While this may drive digital media distribution further, it will also become an inconvenience to install software which come only in optical media. Apple will probably release the drive as an add on then. As of now, the only thing differentiating the Mac from the PC is that it runs Mac OS. The processor and graphics card are the same industry standard devices that are used. Its an Intel/AMD processor and an AMD/nVidia processor. Apple hopes to differentiate itself from the PC by introducing these insanely high resolution displays.

Such a high resolution would make images and web surfing better. However, text might become an issue, since the increase in resolution would be compensated for by the decrease in font size. Also a sufficiently powerful graphics processor would be required to drive the display. This will in turn definitely drive the cost of the MacBook Pro up. And add to that the SSD-only configuration and lack of optical drive and you've got a fancier but pricier MacBook Pro but without any optical drive. The lack of the drive will be a deal-breaker for many people.
