I believe this is the era of gadgets with big technology but small size. Freshly released foxLO hi-fi subwoofer by Soundmatters is the latest proof of my statement. Soundmatters may not be the first company to introduce a subwoofer with small footprint but according to the company, this is the world's first palm-sized hi-fi subwoofer small enough to be carried in a suitcase or to use with your desktop. The company famous for stretching the laws of physics by their high-performance foxL range of speakers is now ready with this true hi-fi subwoofer foxLO.

With its release, foxLO speakers will receive an added amplification boost and are likely to deliver deeper bass levels. The subwoofer plugs directly into foxL speaker and works with other portable speakers such as Jawbone Jambox. Users can directly connect it with an iPad, iPod touch, MAC, iPhone, windows PC or any other sound device because it offers full pass through to connect a speaker system. It is possible because it comes with a 3.5 mm full pass through output. Soundmatters says that the subwoofer works best with portable foxL speaker.
FoxLO delivers high quality and clear audio by using passive radiator system and 25-watt amplification. The minimalist industrial design of this subwoofer features an LED that indicates power and a knob to change the bass. The foxLO sports a USB port that can be used to provide power to the foxL speaker or to charge smartphone or any other portable media. FoxL speakers can run on battery power or electricity but foxLO will run only from electric power, which hampers its mobility. Therefore, it is true that the subwoofer will not take much space in your bag, but you have to carry a power outlet if you want to make most out of your sound device. Excluding an 18 V power supply, the weight of the speaker is 651g. Apart from the weight, if you are interested in knowing the dimensions, then it is 63 x 114 x 160 mm (2.5 x 4.5 x 6.3 inches).
The device will make its debut at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on January 10-13, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be available in retail for consumers starting from the next week and will be available through online portals like Amazon, Crutchfield.com, ListenUp.com and the official site of the company soundmatters.com. While the company does not confirm the price in UK yet, the cost of the product in US will be $149.99. Accessories of the subwoofer include a 1.8m audio cable and 18V Power Supply Adapter. If you do not want to wear a solid set of speakers and looking to add some extra boost to your old speakers, then you can definitely go for this subwoofer. Let us know if you have any plan to get this.
Audio legend and NASA engineer Dr. Godehard Guenther founded Soundmatters in 1998. Dr. Godehard introduced many new things to the audio industry including world’s first in-wall subwoofer, switching power supply for car hi-fi, hi-fi television monitor and first in-wall speaker.
