With no assembling problems and no extra wires to carry around, the PlayStation 3D boasts of a suitable design for almost every age group. Enjoy high definition 3D technology and if you want a change, switch between the various modes with a flick of a button. Convenience personified for the end user.
The Exceptional
1. Display and design
Sony has always epitomized excellent quality and a superb brand name. Bring home this 3D LED screen and see how your world is completely revolutionized. The best in class combination has been blessed with a Full HD 1080p 24” PlayStation 3D display, on a pair of PlayStation 3D compatible glasses and HDMI cable, while the MotorStorm Apocalypse game adds a complimentary charm to the gaming experience.
To liven up the mood, all you need to do is wire up your PS3 Display screen with a compatible system, cable box/computer and invigorate your interiors with this mechanized beauty. Once connected, you can further enjoy high definition quality movies, games, serials etc. all on this happening 3D screen.
This is not all, for the setup has been completed with a set of inbuilt speakers and sub woofers. The two player gaming mode in the display will transport you to another world. Live every moment as if it’s your own and see how the magical world of 3D unfurls its magic on you. Embark on a pure journey marked with sheer ecstasy, enjoyment and fulfillment with Sony’s PS3.
2. SimulView
Let go of the past and take a peep into the glorious future, that too in 3D mode. SimulView, one of the newest additions to the Sony’s vast gaming family, is back to enliven your world. SimulView, or quad speed frame sequential display technology, lets the users see what they want to see. In other words, it enables the display to be converted into two images instead of the usual one image. The Sony’s 3D glasses add their own bit of magic to the TV screen images.
The inherent game, MotorStorm Apocalypse is one gaming feature you would not like to miss on. Even though it’s a complimentary part of the winning package, the game will make your life completely unrealistic. Savor the 3D gaming experience of moving split frames in the game’s display.
3. Gaming/PC
The display screen has the patented Sony PS’s rounded edges, famously known to be a part of the PSP Go’s design. The design has been completed with a black matte finish on the exteriors. A small black PlayStation logo has been fixed on the bottom of the ensemble. The screen hardly has any tilts, apart from the 15 degrees fixed tilt. However, there is not much to benefit from as the screen has absolutely no swivel and a limited tilt.
Be prepared to have a lot of front facing and frequent trips to change between the menu options. If you can afford a PS3 BD Remote Control, then you are in for a bit of luck as the remote is somewhat compatible with the playing device. Apart from these, the screen comes equipped with 2 HDMI 1.4a ports, one component input along with a headphone jack. Although the options may not be a lot, but then it’s enough to sustain a good challenging round of game.
4. Innards
The exteriors are nice and compact, measuring an inch and quarter thick only. Bearing a strong resemblance to Sony’s previous PSP Go’s design, there is not much freshness in the new PlayStation 3D screen. Even though the design is so compact, the entire power supply has been fitted into the rear. Adding to the outlook is the glossy black design, five IRS sockets and a set of 9 infrared LED’s.
5. 3D glasses
Feel a part of the action with the 3D glasses. Bearing a capacity to transport you into a different world altogether, the glasses will immerse you in the immense, immeasureable action. The glasses have been equipped with built in USB batteries and ACTIVE 3D quality for extra benefits.
The Catch
As every coin has two sides, the grass may always seem greener on the other side. Setting apart all the good points of the device, PlayStation 3D has its own share of drawbacks. The price is not exactly in favor of the features the Sony contraption is providing; however, the lack of a remote is more of a bane than a boon. The buttons have been placed in the rear, adding to the misery of the users. The screen’s size is a wee bit too small for the gamers to sit and play from far distances. The fact which can not be overlooked is the reflective glass which would almost reflect any thing in the vicinity.
How to get one?
The US gamers can lay their hands on this neat little contraption for just $ 399. Add another $50-70 for the glasses and you would be a proud owner of this HD screen. European users can avail of this gaming screen from game.co.uk for £500 with the 3D glasses thrown in. Though, you can expect to wait till March 2012 for the release of this screen in Europe.
Our say
Don’t expect a very rocking experience with the £449.99 product. There is no doubt that it’s a good buy, but it would hardly pose a competition to the other HDTV’s available in the market. Given the fact you can expect good TV outputs with the SimulView technology, but apart from that, there is not much that sets apart this electronic gadget. Ideal for small enclosed spaces, rig it up with a set of additional speakers and you may drive a hard bargain for this device’s output.
