Sony VAIO F Series laptop gets a steampunk makeover by a professional steampunk artist. SGNL by Sony admires to explore tech products into various subcultures like steampunk, an art movement to remake products with the touch of ancient subcultures. With the purpose, Sony folks called in the famous steampunk artist John “Wilhem” Dunn to convert its VAIO F Series laptop to a steampunk design. Though an aerospace engineer by profession, Mr. Dunn has been an expert in steampunking gadgets for several years.

Dunn has totally altered the Sony VAIO F Series laptop. First of all, he made a custom design that he named eCog Mercury to covert the laptop into steampunk style. Various types of woods and materials like brass and copper were used to design the steampunk laptop. According to Dunn, it was quite easy to customize the flat surface of the 16-inch laptop. Of course, this part looks breathtaking with the steampunk design.
The VIAO F Series laptop has a stunning steampunk design outside the cover. The hinges are designed quite marvelously to fold up and down the lap. Instead of adhesive, the copper layered cover is a trap door. Most amazing thing with the VIAO laptop is the steampunk design of the laptop’s keyboard. The designer has converted it to a typewriter keyboard with rounded buttons for each key. It is indeed quite overwhelming to see the steampunk keyboard of the PC.
Dunn took two weeks to design the steampunk makeover for the Sony laptop. The company, meanwhile, warns users that any similar modification of the VAIO PC will void its standard limited warranty. Sony has just made the steampunk conversion just out of an enthusiasm towards the steampunk genre of art.
