Portable units of power solutions have huge importance in the era of smartphones and other handheld gadgets. Sometimes, people may not able to access power outlets to recharge their gadgets. Yes, in case of a natural calamity or continuous power outage, you will be stranded with your handsets running out the power. Many Japanese faced the challenge in the event of last year’s earthquake. Keeping this disaster in mind, Japan’s Sony has launched a great portable wind-up USB charger.

Sony’s new portable charger namely the CP-A2LAPKS works on the wind-up technology. Users are expected to wind up a hand crank to produce power to charge the handsets. Being a USB-enabled charger, you can recharge any devices that feature a USB port, which include a smartphone, music player, tablet or anything else. As per Sony, the CP- A2LAPKS portable charger is capable to offer around 1 minute of talk time for winding 3 minutes and one minute of web surfing for winding 5 minutes.
Of course, Sony has designed the tool not for daily use. It is meant to meet with emergency situations. You can spend time winding up the device in a place where you have no other options for power. The Sony portable USB charger can be largely helpful if you have Sony’s Cycle Energy rechargeable battery. Well, you can refill the batteries and transfer the stored power to your gadgets when needed. Sony is to sell the CP-A2LAPKS portable charger for around $100 in Japan from June 20, 2012. The price seems to be higher since it is just a wind-up charger.
