Sony has just expanded its full line-up of digital camera and accessories with the CineAlta® 4K range. The latest line includes a bunch of 4K accessories as well as the PMW-F5 and PMW-F55 cameras. Sony Electronics had announced the range in late October targeting content creation demands across 2K, 4K and HD platforms for use in professional applications.
For every level of production, professionals will be able to utilize powerful new components that complement each other. The new product line includes large-sensor cameras HD, 2K, 4K like the flagship F65, the new F3, F5 and F55 as well as the FS100 and FS700 along with a compressive toolkit. The new PMW-F5 and PMW-F55 cameras comes with fine tonal gradations, high resolution exposure latitude laid out in 14-stops as well as state-of-the-art CMOS Super35mm 4K sensors.
Using 16Bit linear RAW format, up to 60fps recording speed will be offered by the F55 in optional AXS-R5 mode. Up to 60p in QFHD XAVC and 4K mode can be captured by the camera using SxS Pro+cards. When using the optional AXS‑R5 to record 16-bit 2K RAW video, the PMW-F5 allows 120fps and the PMW-F55 allows 240fps frame rates. In 2K XAVC and HD mode, internal recording for the F55 stays at around 180fps.
All the camera and accessories in the range are expected to be available in the U.S. starting February with the CineAlta 4K Camera PMW-F5 model retailing at $19,400, the PMW-F55 model retailing at $34,900, the AXR-R5 RAW Recorder being priced at $6,300. The AXS-512S24 Memory Card (512GB) retailing at $2,100, the card reader AXS-CR1 retailing at $660. The OLED DVF-EL100 Viewfinder has been set to retail at $5,800, the DVF-L700 LCD viewfinder is priced at $5,000 while the DVF-F350 with a 3.5-inch LCD Viewfinder is priced at $3,800. The six lens package in the SCL-PK6/F PL mount range retails at $24,600 while the three lens package retails at $13,600.
