Sony is all set to give the beloved MacBook Air run for its money with an all new VAIO Duo 11 Ultrabook. According to the company’s press release, the new ultrabook will come laced with the yet-unreleased Windows 8 operating system along with a number of innovative hardware design innovations helping it stand out amidst competition. Perfect for both work as well as play, the new Sony VAIO Duo 11 Ultrabook is fronted by a scratch-resistant glass that protects the 11.6-inch display.

The hybrid device will allow users to experience dual functioning computing via a Surf Slider a durable mechanism that lets the device go from tablet to keyboard-enabled notebook smoothly. The Full HD touchscreen LCD display will be paired with a digitizer pressure-sensitive multi-tip stylus that allows a freer flow of handwriting and sketching and offers a smoother interactive experience. Paired with a backlit keyboard, the also offers the joy of more traditional computing for folks who need to do a lot of typing.

Weighing around 2.84 lbs, the Sony VAIO Duo 11 Ultrabook comes laced with Sheet Battery technology, I/O port connectivity and Intel Core processors among a bunch of other hardware specifications that allow the notebook hybrid to be customized according to individual users’ needs. With limited color options, the Sony VAIO Duo 11 Ultrabook retails starting at $1,099.
