New Samsung technology to unveil era of see-through gadgets

Imagine yourself in a situation explained here. There is no dashboard in your car and you are able to access all the control system on the windscreen. All the large computers have been removed from your office and instead you have been provided sheets of glass that also work like computers when switched on. Well, these are not scenes from a Sci-Fi movie. Rather, a new technology developed by Samsung is all set to make the scenes discussed here a reality. Also called as the Samsung Transparent Smart Window, the transparent touch screen monitor technology was demonstrated this month by Samsung at 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), in Las Vegas.

There are many other possible ways in which the new Samsung technology could be useful. For example, it could be applied in the submersibles to replace all the heavy instruments that often block the glass viewing area. In the homes, it could replace all the LCD screens and just hang on the walls like a beautiful glass wall paper. Samsung says it could also be used for creating smaller screens with very high resolutions.

Samsung Transparent Smart Window, can fit a window any size up to 46-inches and deliver a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

At the CES, the Japanese company demonstrated this by showing a 1680 x 1050 pixel resolution on a 22-inch monitor. On a six-inch size window, it can display images at 1366 x 768 pixel screen resolution. You may have worries about privacy as the transparent monitor would allow others to see what you are doing on the screen. Such concerns should be needless here as the very idea of transparent gadgets is to promote openness and to bring a few private things into public domain. However, Samsung has developed a privacy screen to quell such worries.

Will there be a time when stuffs from science fiction movies would become a reality? May be or may be not is the answer. Is it right to claim that science fictions have no reality of their own? Again, may be or may be not is the answer. But one thing is certain. Science fictions do show glimpses of the future. The new see-through touch screen display technology developed by Samsung is a recent testimony to this fact. If you remember, many science fiction-based movies produced in the last two decades have repeatedly shown see-through gadgets. Perhaps, now the world is ready to enter into an era of see-through gadgets as Samsung is not the first to have demonstrated a see-through gadget. Prior to this, researchers have also demonstrated remarkable technologies like transparent batteries, audio-speakers and mobile phones.
