Is it safe to clean the installer folder?

My 40 GB laptop is full in its capacity so, I want to do a kind of system clean up by first of all cleaning the C: Windows Installer folder. It is a place where uninstalled files and folders are stored. So, I was wondering that is it safe to remove those files and folders from my laptop? Guys suggest me how to clean installer folder? Will it affect my system performance?

Thera are lot of files in C: Window Installer directory using lot of space, normally in MB or GB. These files are needed when we uninstall any application program (software). So, keep a back up in any CD/DVD and remove these files in our laptop. Before uninstalling the software you must profile the backup file in its directory.

Note: The only safe method to remove Installer files is to use the Window Installer clean up utility.
