RIM files patent for battery charging cellphone holster

Before I give an account of what RIM allegedly has up its sleeve, I want all readers to ask themselves one simple question: What does carrying wireless technology in your hands mean to you? From being the simple means of connecting with friends and family, to equipping you with thousands of applications; from promoting business communication to keeping track of environmental trends, your cell phone is like a vital organ that closely impacts your life. Understanding this ever growing bond, RIM has filed a patent for its battery charging cell phone holster that will ensure your dear phone never runs out of juice while you’re on the go.

RIM’s proposed patent for the battery charging holster for cell phones has finally been granted and we first took note of it at the BlackBerry World Conference, 2012. The underlining concept of the holster charger is simple to grasp. It will be integrated with a battery that will charge your cell phone battery if it detects the depletion of charge below a certain predetermined level.

Also, the holster will have a microcontroller that will communicate with the microprocessor of the BlackBerry phone. It will alert you about any notifications through built-in speakers, avoiding the strumming sensation produced by obstructed sounds.

One question that remains unanswered is whether this holster shield will be compatible with Berries powered by fuel cell or not? For this and a tad more info on pricing, we’ll have to wait a bit more.
