What can I do to resume update of my Blackberry's operating system?

I have Blackberry 9650. The operating system update stopped suddenly. I have done hard reset, removed battery, and tried doing a restore from Blackberry Desktop. But process hangs for hours at approximately 30 percent of completion. I can't boot back into the regular Blackberry interface. What can I do to resume update of my Blackberry's operating system? I would really appreciate your useful information regarding this. Thanks.

Hi, it feels great to help. I am giving you a solution for your problem, hope it will work out. However you will need to have a MAC machine for implementing this procedure. Upgrade the operating system of your Blackberry phone in just 9 easy steps as follows.

  • Your machine must have the X11 installed in it, you can install it from your OS dvd. To check whether your machine has it or not, simply go to the Spotlight and type X11.
  • Download the “WineBottler” application here. The download program downloads two programs simultaneously which are “Wine”, that enables you to run program on MAC. and “WineBottler” application helps you to repackage an .exe file into a .dmg file.
  • Do a right click of the mouse on OS .exe file, select “Open With” from the drop down list, then select “Wine”. No sooner you do this, a window will pop up and it will give you two choices, whether you will like to run the program or convert it to .dmg file. Select the first option. Be Cautious!! Here you need to specify the location where the program will run. Once done, click on Go and the program will start executing.
  • Run through the Installation Wizard, that is a easy job to do, however if you are using an unbranded version then skip to the last step.
  • You need to remember where you have installed the file. If it skipped your attention then not an issue, go back to Spot Light and search for Drive_C.
  • Go to drive_c, then search for Program Files, in program files go to Common Files, from there to Research In Motion, and then at last to AppLoader. Once you have reached there delete the vendor .xml file.
  • Plug in your phone and run the BB Desktop Manager. If everything goes right, it should come up with the software update screen. If not, then click on application on the upper right of the screen and it will do its task. A few more minutes may be consumed and you will find your phone's operating system has been updated.
