How to recover lost hard drive space?

Recently I bought this PC with Windows Vista Home Premium and not too lately but I have started facing certain problems in it. For some reason or the other but it seems like 20 to 30 GB of my Hard disk is been missing. I am really shocked with what is happening with my brand new system. Does anybody have any idea about what is going on? I have a Seagate Sata 250GB HDD if it is of any help. Is it the hard drive that is making me face such problems? Does anyone have any solutions for it?

Sometimes this situation does occur, where you cannot see the entire disk space of your hard disk. Even when after installing a new hard disk, you should completely format it before installing it to your machine. When you face such an issue in Vista, you can use tools which are provided with the operating system. There is one Disk Cleanup utility which will help you to retain the original space of your hard disk. Execute following steps for cleaning up your hard disk.

Click on the start button on your desktop, which should be at the bottom right hand corner, and click on “All Programs” folder. There you will find utility called “disk Cleanup”. In disk clean up wizard, you have to select files to clean. There are two choices available. You can either choose “My Files Only” where you get options to delete only your files. The second option is “Files From All Users”. Here you can delete any of the file from computer. You can choose either of them. You have to select C drive to run disk cleanup on primary partition. There are few options to delete like Temporary Internet Files, logs, supporting files, downloaded files etc. You can delete all of them to clear your space from hard disk. By clicking on Ok you can delete all spaces. Now, you can check space on your hard disk.

You can do this task regularly to free space.
