Having done a commendable job representing his grandmother on numerous successful trips abroad prior to the Olympics and having been a picture of good-humored propriety throughout the 2012 London Olympics itself, Prince Harry certainly deserved a break from his royal duties. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas and promptly comes back to bite one in the proverbial behind. And that’s exactly what happened to poor old Harry who dropped his guard for a few hours at a hotel room in Vegas only to have pictures of him wearing a birthday suit flashed across the internet and on the front pages of tabloids across the world. But that’s not the end of it for His Royal Hotness as the fiasco has now forced the soldier prince to deactivate his Facebook account.

Due to security and privacy concerns, Prince Harry doesn’t have an official account on Facebook though he is rumored to have been using the site under the alias “Spike Wells” for the past four years. While the actual identity of Spike Wells remains a mystery, quite a few clues point to the fact that the account may belong to Prince Harry. For example, Spike Wells has over 400 friends most of whom belong to the wealthiest and the noblest families in England and are known to be a part of Harry’s circle of friends. Arthur Landon, who was with Prince Harry during his now infamous Vegas trip, is also a friend of Spike Wells.
A few months ago, Spike Wells’ profile showed pictures of adventurers in Arctic conditions holding a Union Jack with the logo of the “Walking With The Wounded” charity printed on it. Harry patronizes the charity and went on an expedition to the North Pole in support of the charity around the same time that these pictures appeared on Mr. Wells’ profile. And now Spike Wells’ profile seems to have disappeared from Facebook for no apparent reason. Even though no one truly feels sorry for the party-hopping Prince who comprised his own privacy and security for a few hours of Vegas fun, one can truly feel the pain of a 27-year old guy who has been forced to give up Facebook.
