Segways have a huge potential in personal transportation. It is easy to make small trips in a city on a Segway. However, high price point always puts off one from purchasing a Segway. It is here the Personal Rover Electric Transportation Vehicle fills the gap. It is a four-wheeled electric Segway with an affordable price. Indeed, it provides similar functionality of a full-fledged Segway for a fraction of its cost.

Going through its features, the Personal Rover is primarily a non-balancing vehicle that moves on four wheels. In fact, raiding on this rover will look like a cross between cross-country skiing and skateboarding. Instead of the T-handlebar of the Segways, the Personal Rover has a couple of ski poles. You can move on just leaning left and right while holding the poles. Obviously, the rover ensures more safety for the rider on-board.
The Rover is a result of mating together a set of skis and a Radio Flyer Wagon, a skateboard. Certainly, it's an idea from a crazy designer. The electric vehicle comes with an 800W motor that can travel a rider up to 12 miles at a speed up to 15mph. The Rover seems to be ideal for open areas rather than urban crowds, because the contraption has a pretty big footprint. It sports large and hard tires, which will let you move freely in rougher terrains.
CNet’s Amanda Kooser thinks the Rover is a strange beast. It is a muscled-up version of a Razor scooter for adults, Kooser adds. What makes the Rover more amazing is its low price tag. For a standard Segway, you will have to throw away around $6,500. But for this four-wheeled electric rover, you just have to pay $1000. Maybe, its big rubber tires and boxy frame may lack the aesthetic beauty the usual Segways have, but it comes much cheaper.
It is also exciting that you can fold up the entire vehicle. Its designers claim that they have made it in vertical position to reduce the footprint. So it is quite easy to store and carry around the scooter while it's not in use. Hence, the vehicle can be rolled into an elevator, into a corner or put it anywhere in a vertical position taking less footprint for storage. No other 800MW electric rover offers this much flexibility.
As of now, two models of the 800 watt Personal Rovers are available: the black and red. Its developers promise to bring out a set of small and light 600 watt models of the Rovers in future. The new vehicles will come up with line of accessories including cargo baskets and optional storage covers. Indeed, it is time to go skating with more safety and efficiency on Personal Rover now.
