Why does my PC doesn't support USB Mass storage?

My Windows XP PC is now no longer supporting any USB mass storage devices such as USB thumb drives or a digital camera or memory cards. I'm not really sure whether what happened with it, but I am sure that either the Microsoft Driver for such hardware has been corrupted or has been deleted my mistake. Or is there any other problem due to which my PC has stopped supporting USB Mass storage device? Anyways I'd like to know where I can download a replacement driver (from Microsoft), so that I get rid of this problem soon.

This is a frequent problem encountered by many people who use usb drives, cell phone usb and all. They all have a similar complaint that their usb drive does not detect while it is connected to pc. If following is the case of yours then you should check if any problem persists with yours

If you were not using Safely Remove Hardware and if you stop the accessing the drive while Windows is running before the usb drive is a frequent cause of problems like yours.

Depending on what data has been damaged it will not show up in the my computer in Xp or others like vista, windows 7and all.. so what you have to do is to check in device manager. It should show up in the device manager. USB drives as mass storage controllers. In disk drives-device manager

You can go to device manager in XP or vista or windows 7 by clicking on the Right click-properties- Hardware-Device manager

If the drive is not shown over there then you should connect the drive to different USB port.

if the Drive does show you up there you need to use a program to repair data damage

In these ways you can know the problem of your mass storage USB drives.THANK YOU
