Panasonic unveils two Super Zoom Lumix cameras: DMC-ZS20 and DMC-ZS15

Panasonic has brought up two high-end, pocket sized, Super Zoom Lumix digital cameras: the DMC-ZS20 and its younger sibling, the DMC-ZS15. The Japanese camera maker shows off the DMC-ZS20 as the world’s thinnest camera with 1.1-inch thick body. It has an amazing 20x optical zoom lens, while the DMC-ZS15 features a decent 16x optical zoom lens. Both are highly competitive digital cameras to their current rivals out in stores.

Panasonic has been a distinguished camera maker. The company’s cameras are known for excellence and better quality images. The new Lumix DMC line is no more an exception. Apart from its slimness factor, the DMC-ZS20 has better specs under the hood. The device features a 24mm, ultra wide angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR. This lens integrates the famous Nano Surface Coating technology so as to get better quality images with reduced flare and ghosting.

The ZS20 further mounts advanced 14.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor. Powered by the new Venus Engine processing, the sensor can record up to 10fps at full resolution. Moreover, it utilizes Light Speed AF for a swift autofocus performance. The Lumix ZS20 sports a large, 3-inch 460,000-dot Smart Touch LCD screen to let you surf through the captured images and videos neatly.

All top-tier digital cameras come with full HD 1080p video capture today. The new Panasonic Lumix camera is not a slouch as it can record full-HD 1920 x 1080 video at 60p. The 60p videos are stored in AVCHD Progressive (MPEG-4) format, while the 30p are stored in MP4 in the camera. For recording, the camera features Dolby Digital-powered integrated microphone with Auto Wind Cut capability.

Yet another incredible feature with the new Lumix is its Image Uploader, which is meant to let you easily upload images and videos to social media sites like Facebook, Flickr and YouTube. The camera can be charged either via a USB cable or the traditional AC adapter.

The camera also features the much-excited GPS capability, which will help users track their snaps or videos. In addition, it has a Creative Control mode that offers a set of special effects such as Dynamic Monochrome, High Dynamic, Sepia, Expressive Retro, Miniature Effect and much more. You have manual control options on the Panasonic camera, which will let you adjust aperture, shutter speed and other functions.

The Lumix DMC-ZS15 is actually a lower end version of the ZS20. The ZS15 touts a 24mm ultra-wide angle 16x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens, 32x Intelligent Zoom, 12.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor and the same 3-inch 460,000-dot LCD display. Panasonic will start shipping the cameras in March this year. The suggested price tags of the devices read $349.99 and $279.99 respectively.
