The full form of XPS is XML Paper Specification, It is an unlock specification for a page description language and a permanent text format initially developed by Microsoft as XML Paper Specification (XPS). XPS files contain XML markups for each page in the text, having the freedom to embed images and lots more. Where XML stands for Extensible Markup Language. It is an XML based pattern, based on a latest print path and a color managed vector based text format that supports resolution independence and device independence. The purpose to developed XPS file formats from XML is to work as a alternative source to the commonly used popular PDF format. In some cases the 3rd party scanning tools in windows saves files in XPS format. If you are using windows vista then by default you can open an XPS file using the tool Microsoft XPS viewer, which is by default installed on windows vista. If you don’t want to open XPS files by using Microsoft XPS viewer then you can also open by using Internet Explorer because it makes use of XPS plug-in.And if you are using another version of Windows operation system then you have to download Microsoft XPS viewer from Microsoft it’s free to download.
