You might be painting your walls with different colors, designs and patterns but the future holds something different to it. As you start off to a new day, you would sit facing the wall watching news, checking Facebook updates, mails and tweets by people you follow, all at the same time, thanks to Tileable screens on your wall. All this could be made possible with the OLED display panels whose price is expected to drop up to 8 times in the coming decade.

News Digital Systems (NDS) has already put up 3.6m by 1.4m prototype screen to which content is pushed by a video server while you control the screen with an app in your smartphones. With the app you can decide the position of different types of content on your wall and the level of immersion you want by extending the content to the entire wall or interleave between multiple screens. The distinctive advantage OLED display panel offers is their lack of need for side lighting, which means you can integrate them together giving a seamless viewing experience.
The good thing is you won’t have to burn a hole in your bank account to buy one of these as the price of OLEDs is expected to come down considerably. In case you think your smartphones wouldn’t be smart enough to make choices for you, some propose using Microsoft Kinect depth cameras to keep track of vision and dynamically enhance the picture quality in the regions where you have your focus. Going a step further, since we are talking about the decade to come, you might get rid of any such controls and rather resort to gestures and voice messages to get what you want from your screen laden wall.
