The Powerline range of products from Netgear are a set of wonderful add ons that allow users to turn any power outlet in the house into a networking outlet even if the room has no Wi-Fi support or Ethernet jack. The company is now taking their game up a notch with the Powerline Music Extender which can create an internet connection from the power outlets in a room and also allows users to stream their music through it. The nifty little product is perfect for people who need to be in different rooms through the day but don’t want to struggle with a mess of wires or Bluetooth/Wi-Fi ranges to keep them connected to their audio speakers and the internet. Of course, the device won’t have your music streaming right out of the outlet and you would need to hook some kind of speakers to make it work.
However, it does allow users to stream music from their Windows/Mac PCs or Android/iOS-supported smartphone or tablet directly. The Powerline Music Extender can also be used to connect computers, DVRs on a network, TV set-top boxes and smart televisions or connect your PC to a remote USB-based hard drive or a USB printer. What’s even better is that you are still free to use the power outlet as a power outlet so you always have the power options in a room open for you. The device is offered in a single pack worth $99 for people who already have Netgear’s power range though the entire starter kit is expected to cost around $139. The Netgear Powerline Music Extender hits stores in October.
