How do I navigate my way to get current directory, c prompt in windows xp?

How do I navigate my way to get current directory, c prompt in windows xp? I want to view the hidden files and move through my file system in a jiffy and relive the feeling like I am using the DOS once again. After hitting the Enter I typed the command in the dialog that comes up. What do I do after that? How do I navigate from here, 'before google takes over just kidding'? Help me please.

Type the cd documents and the settings and then hit the enter Key. This will take you into your documents and the settings folder where the user information is just stored. You can even skip typing your full folder name if you will just type your first three letters and press the Tab key. Type the dir when you are in your documents and settings folder to see what is in the directory. The dir command lists all of the files and the folders inside the current directory. Type the cd then YourAccountNameFolder and then hit Enter to just get to the Home directory for the username. Sometimes, if you really have migrated the account from one machine to another, you will see duplicates of your account name. When you type dir to list the folders in the directory you will see dates on the side which signify when the folder was accessed last. Choose only one that's which is most recent.
