Why my msn messenger is not working?

From last two days I am not able to use my msn messenger. Whenever I try to use this it gets restarted automatically. I had already reinstall msn messenger but it still not working. I had also scanned my whole system for viruses but there was no virus found. I have got a genuine antivirus and I don’t think it is happening due to virus. SO can anyone tell me, why my msn messenger is not working? I don’t want to restore my system so please tell me some other way through which I can fix this problem.

Hi, Well this is embarrassing, however there are so many reasons by which your msn messenger is not working. As you said you have already reinstalled it, so if it is installing correctly then .exe file is fine. Somehow, there might be chances of getting system problems.

Try following steps:

1. Remove Windows Live Messenger from the computer.

2. Remove the temporary files and folders from the computer:

a. Click Start, click Run, type cleanmgr, and then click OK.

b. If you are prompted, select the drive you want to clean up list, and then click OK.

3. Install msn messenger again.

If this will not work try to install new or latest version of msn messenger.

If still you face problem in using msn messenger then try following:

Delete the described file: C: Program Files Windows Live Contacts wldlog.dll

Reinstall the application and see if its working.(Path of directory may differ according to your system drive)

If again you are facing problem then try following things:

Delete Windows Live Messenger related cache files

a. Click Start, click Run, type CMD, and press Enter it opens a command window. Execute following commands one by one and hit Enter after each command to execute them.

b. Following commands delete cache files when you sign in to the msn messenger.

del "%USERPROFILE%Application DataMicrosoftIdentityCRL"
del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%Application DataMicrosoftIdentityCRL"
del "%USERPROFILE%Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWindows Live Contacts"<>
del "%USERPROFILE%Contacts"

If still you are facing same problem then install vmware to your personal computer, then install new operating system onto virtual machine and install fresh messenger on virtual machine hope it will work smoothly.

As you said the problem is not by viruses, but sometimes it may happen about anti virus software itself. Anti virus software treats some software as a corrupt item and block its execution for security and safety purposes. You can try it by uninstalling the anti virus software and then running msn application. hope this will work fine.
