Modder ambitiously creates a detailed Lego model of Star Trek's USS Reliant

When it comes to fascinating Lego sculptures, dedicated enthusiasts and modders have painstakingly pushed this 'art' to exalted levels over the years. And as our thriving media influenced culture has allowed us, most of these enticing works were inspired by popular themes from different eras. Following along this prevalent tradition, designer Christer Nyberg has contrived his latest conception, which alludes to none other than one of the most impressive sci-fi fantasies ever, i.e. Star Trek.

But this time, the design imbues a perfectly subtle twist to insinuate the fanatical fan-dom of the 'Trekkers'. This is because; most of us (especially, the uninitiated) identify Star Trek with the ubiquitously iconic image of the USS Enterprise (of course, along with the one and only Spock). But any Trekker worth his salt would tell you that Nyberg's detailed Lego sculpture is not inspired by Enterprise. As a matter of fact, the classy conception replicates the design of the doomed USS Reliant, which appeared in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Coming to the sculpture itself, the elaborate bearing is deftly complimented by the solid demeanor and the futuristic sleek features. Moreover, the designer has rather notched it up a level by even incorporating special lighting effects for the full 'space' effect.

Well, all of these have obviously come at a price. According to sources, the Miranda class star-ship replica needed around a whopping 15,000 pieces of Lego bricks and two full years of heartfelt labor. So, ultimately, it is one of those prominent tributes to one of the defining science fiction shows of our era (of course, along with a commendable salutation to those vivacious plastic bricks).
