Apple-centric speakers are a dime a dozen in the market today though the Zipp wireless speaker by Danish audio accessories manufacturer Libratone is by far the prettiest one we have seen. Using the Apple AirPlay tech in a Wi-Fi free peer-to-peer setup through a new application called the “PlayDirect”, the wireless speaker streams music from most iDevices including PCs with iTunes, Mac computers, the iPod range, the iPad and the iPhone as well. The compact device is also completely portable and comes laced with a true digital amplifier that recreates the exact sound that an artist intended to deliver on a particular number.
The speaker uses something called a “FullRoom 360 degree sound” setup that utilizes specially designed drivers to disperse the sound in all directions so the user doesn’t have to worry about sitting in a sweet spot directly in front to enjoy the full force of the music. The cylindrical battery powered device comes with a rechargeable battery that can lets it stream music for up to four hours while wired music streaming provides up to eight hours of continuous play.
However, what makes the Libratone Zipp wireless AirPlay speaker truly remarkable is the fact that is comes with a range of changeable Italian wool covers in vivid colors that allow the speaker to be matched to any décor or used as a standalone functional decorative as well. Users can also customize sound settings on the speaker via a slick Libratone app for iDevices. The fashionable and stylish Libratone Zipp will be retailed exclusively via Apple Online and Apple Stores from October and will be priced at $399 a piece.
