What should we know: Lenovo LePad S2005 vs. Dell Streak 5

The challenge

Dell Streak 5 is the very first 5-inch tablet in the world. Dell launched the device in June 2010, meaning that it is one of the first Android tablets in shelves. Even the tablet industry later received lots of devices with screen sizes from 10.1-inch to 7-inch, there came out no 5-inch small tablet for several months. But in November 2011, we received Galaxy Note, Samsung’s 5.3-inch tablet with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. As of now, the Chinese technology maker Lenovo has come up with another 5-inch tablet, called LePad S2005.

Along with LePad S2005, the tablet industry has now three 5-inchers. Meanwhile, Dell Streak 5 has started to get its sheen deteriorated over the months. Operating System

The upcoming LePad S2005 will land in stores with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Dell Streak 5, in the meantime, came out of covers with Android 1.6 and was later updated to Android 2.2 Froyo. Dell Streak 5 is not upgradable to the recent versions of Android. It means LePad S2005 has clear domination over its Dell rival.

Lenovo LePad S2005 collects its power from a powerful 1,680mAh battery that provides longer battery life. Dell Streak 5, at the same time, mounts Li-Ion battery 1530mAh that offers only up to 400 hours on standby and up to 9 hours 48 minutes talk time.

Processor

Lenovo is to equip its upcoming LePad S2005 with a 1.2GHz dual core processor from Qualcomm. Dell Streak 5 has only a 1GHz Scorpion processor. Thanks to the powerful processor, LePad S2005 works faster than its Dell rival.

Memory

Lenovo LePad S2005 rocks 1GB of RAM, while Streak 5 only has a 512MB of RAM.

Display

Lenovo LePad S2005 sports a 5-inch LTPS display with ultra-wide 178-degree viewing angle. The display has a resolution of 480 x 800. Dell Streak 5 is up with a 5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with the same resolution. Indeed, both tablets have almost identical features as far display is considered.

Camera

Streak 5 is up with a 5-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash for better clarity images. Of course, LePad S2005 has a more advanced 5-megpixel rear camera with 2592 х 1944 pixels, dual LED flash, check quality, auto focus, geo-tagging and 720p video recording. There is also a secondary camera in the front for video calls.

The ultimate winner of the comparison above is Lenovo LePad S2005. The new ‘phoneblet,’ many call it so because it is both a tablet and smartphone, has many more features and capabilities than Dell Streak 5. Of course, it is simply possible, because Dell Streak 5 is more than one year old than the new product from Lenovo. Dell rolled out its five-incher mid last year.

Lenovo LePad S2005 has a great look thanks to its wonderful design. The tablet PC works great because it has more advanced tech specs and features. Lenovo is yet to release the tablet. The company hopes to unveil it officially next month with an undisclosed price tag. Along with the 5-inch tablet, Lenovo has also announced a 7-inch S2007 and 10.1-inch S2010. Besides all, the company has hinted about the arrival of a new Android smartphone named LePhone S2. All the devices will find their way into stores in December, Lenovo claims.

Furthermore, the company reportedly has plans to manufacture a Tegra 3 powered tablet for early next year. Lenovo clearly intends to break the domination of several companies in tablet and smartphone industry. Of course, Samsung comes one of the first targets of Lenovo as the company has designed a line of worthy challengers to its 5-inch, 7-inch and 10.1-inch tablets.
