LanZilla: The worlds 1st R/C lan case to drool over

We have previously harped about a myriad of intriguing computer case mods by Stephen Popa like the R/C gaming mod, sniper inspired mod and the Scooterputer. We have also reiterated about a multitude of innovate DIY remote controlled cars. But what if we told you that Stephen Leatherface Popa (yes, the one and only) is back into the fantastic scheme of things with his wondrous fusion of a case mod and a RC car. Sounds like a completely cockamamie statement? Well, we can assure you that it is not.

Stephen Leatherface Popa has customarily fascinated us with his adroit case mods. But this time around, he has strived for something which is preposterously avant-garde. The end result is the extravagant ‘LanZilla’: a full fledged RC car, infused with a power packed paraphernalia of computer circuitry (that doubles up as a case mod).

Since we are talking how robust our contraption is, we should mention something about its structural attributes. According to the modder, he has used a Thermaltake Element Q case, which he has modified as per his required specifications. The revamping part made the case appropriate for housing dual graphics card slots (instead of a Thermaltake Element Q’s traditional single slot). After this, the case was implanted with some pretty boisterous components like a Zotac H-67 ITX Wifi motherboard, an I-5 2500k Processor and robustly designed Zotac 560TI graphics card. The memory part was also earnestly complimented by integrating a whopping 8GB of Patriot G2 RAM, along with a Patriot Pyro 120GB SSD drive.

Now, coming to the interesting part of the miniature vehicle, the modder utilized a commercial RC car for his funky purpose. Obviously, he once again modified and ‘shortened’ the toy, so that the contraption can be mounted easily on his aforementioned processing system. But more importantly, the designer had to regulate the adaptability of these two different systems (for the singular fusion of his ‘machine with wheels’). In relation to this, he contrived a custom outer shell to safely cover up and sturdily affix the graphics card component. And yet a subtle open system was developed (structurally), for the ultimate cooling effect from external air flow. Now, for some feature related specs, the full WiFi capable conception is also packed with a 9.6v rechargeable battery and an inserted LED fog light for visual connection.

Finally, the end result is a dynamic computer case mod that dually acts up as a sprightly RC car. As a matter of fact, Stephen Leatherface Popa has already touted his power house of a creation as the world’s very first RC LAN case. Well, driven by our ardently geeky senses, we surely are convinced!
