Beamtron by Hrvoje Benko and Andy Wilson, from Microsoft Research is a new augmented reality concept, which allows people to combine physical world with virtual world by using a Kinect sensor and a projector on a pan tilt rotating head - same as you may find in a casino or a disco.

The setup enables projected graphics to react in physically suitable ways by utilizing KinectFusion to build a 3D model of the space. The rotating head is used to move the image almost anywhere in the room, while the camera allows the correct projection of image to take shape of projection surfaces. For example a projection of a virtual car can be impelled across the room’s floor that would be seen running over ramps and bumping into real obstacles.
Check out the video of the Beamtron shown below and you can clearly see how this could make life pretty interesting and fun by placing the graphics automatically within the user's view and its ability to bring the notifications also.
