One Keyboard by Matias controls both PC and iPad/iPhone

Modern gadgetry offers us a wide range of fabulous devices to choose from. Computers may remain at the top of the list but there are some pretty smart gadgets designed to give big, bulky PCs stiff competition. In time, we may just see these mini marvels knocking computers from their roost. For now, we’ll have to contend with what is available. iPads and iPhones are the latest must-haves for gadget lovers owing to their sleek design and smart apps. There is a dampener, however, as those unfamiliar with touch devices can find it a little tricky using their styluses or fingers to operate them. Moreover, working on multiple devices mean that you have to constantly switch between them. To deal with this problem, Matias has developed a handy keyboard that can control both your computer and your iPad or iPhone. While those familiar with iDevices may scoff at the need for a separate keyboard, most will agree that using one is far simpler than operating using touch controls.

Matias has released four versions of the One Keyboard, three for iDevices and one for BlackBerrys. Prices begin at $80 for the iPhone-compatible keyboard called Slim One and up to $200 for the Tactile model which is thicker wing to the mechanical keyswitches. The keyboards are wired and have a USB port for the iPhone’s Bluetooth connection. Incidentally, the keyboards come with a kickstand for the iPhone. Slim and minimalistic looking, Matias’s creations will prove to be a boon for those who work on multiple devices. And if you’re wondering how to switch between your iDevice and your computer, it’s pretty simple. Just one press of a button and you can alternate between your gadgets.

While the BlackBerry-designed keyboard may not be put to much use by users of BlackBerry, it has some pretty decent functions. Two USB 2.0 ports provide fast data transfer, up to 40 times faster than regular ports. It also comes with a MiniRizer stand to dock your BlackBerry. Meanwhile, the standard version of the keyboard meant for Mac users has all the keys found on MacBook.

This isn’t the first time that Matias has released keyboards for iPads and netbooks. The company launched the folding Bluetooth keyboard sometime back. The full keyboard had a number pad as well as function keys which could be accessed in home row. However, it wasn’t such a bit hit as users found it to be a little bit too bulky. Moreover, the keyboard couldn’t lock together and could be used only on a flat surface.

The One Keyboard is way more attractive and less clumsy by comparison. While it may not fold, it offers more facilities than the folding Bluetooth keyboard. The light grey color complements whatever hue your iDevice is and is far slimmer than its predecessor. The only drawback could be the absence of batteries. When you’re on the go, batteries are the only source of power so the keyboards will be virtually defunct unless you find a power source.
