IRISNotes 2 digital pens convert handwritten notes into digital text

Taking notes by hand is still an inevitable part of student life, jobs and daily life. However, to store them for later use or to share those with others, these notes have to be digitized. Scanning handwritten notes into PDFs and image files is the most popular way though one’s handwriting may not be legible to most people in which case these handwritten notes need to be manually typed. To save users the extra time of typing handwritten notes into digital copies, IRIS has created the Notes 2 line of digital pens. The digital pen basically converts handwritten notes into digital text as one writes on a piece of paper. The digital text is then converted into .doc or .txt format when the device is synced to the computer. These notes can also be edited further like regular digital documents.

Offered in Express and Executive specifications, the IRISNotes 2 digital pens requires one to simply clip a receiver onto the sheet of paper while the special digital pen tracks and records the user’s hand movement. The stored data can then by synced with a computer and the converted text is then available for further editing. The IRISNotes 2 digital pens are compatible with Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion as well as Windows 7, Vista and XP operating systems. The pen connects to the receiver via infrared and ultrasound. The IRISNotes 2 digital pen measures 72 mm L x 32 mm W x 15 mm H and weighs a mere 26g. The digital pen can be recharged via a USB connector and a full charge provides up to 8 hours of continuous writing.

Both Executive and Express specification IRISNotes 2 digital pens come bundled with a 30-pin connector for Apple devices, an ink refill, a USB cable, USB receiver and a CD-ROM containing the software and drivers for Mac® and Windows®. The IRIS Notes 2 digital pens recognizes major world languages including English, Swedish, Russian, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Hebrew, Greek, French and Italian etc. The IRISNotes 2 Express digital pen is priced at $99 and the IRISNotes 2 Executive digital pen is priced at $149.
