How to install Linux operating systems in the computer that already has Windows operating systems?

Hello, I am planning to use both Linux operating system and Windows operating system in my computer. I want to use Linux operating system for official purpose and Windows operating system for personal use. I want to use them in one computer at the same time if possible. Is that possible? How to install Linux operating systems in the computer that already has Windows operating systems? I would really appreciate your useful assistance regarding this. I hope to hear real soon from your side. Please advice Thanks.

Since you already have a Windows operating system installed on your system, installing a Linux operating system should not be too much of a hassle. The following steps outline how to dual boot a PC with a Linux OS :-

1) The first thing would be to select the Linux OS. I would recommend Ubuntu or Kubuntu.

2) Insert the Linux installation disc into your disc drive while Windows is running and wait for autorun to execute. If by some chance it doesn't then manually locate and run the umenu.exe file in the disc to launch the installation window.

3) On the first window itself there should be an option called "Install inside Windows". Select it.

4) The next window displays 6 options that you need to manually select. They are Installation Drive, Installation Size, Desktop Environment, Language, Username and Password.

5) Select the Installation Drive and Installation Size. It is recommended that you spare at least 5Gb for the installation.

6) If you know anything about Linux then you could select any Desktop Environment . If you are just starting out then I'd suggest trying out the Gnome environment.

7) Select the Language, Username and Password and click Install.

8) Wait until the installation completes and select "Reboot Now" and click Finish

9) When the system is being rebooted again you should see a "Select Operating System" menu where you can choose either the Windows or Linux OS.

These instructions should be adequate to dual boot your system with a Windows and a Linux operating system.
