Although I have inserted the new batteries why isn't my laptop remote working?

I have lost the manual I got with my laptop remote. I am sure that I am using the correct toshiba remote control. I have also ensured that it has a clear line of sight as well. After cleaning the battery terminals I have inserted fresh batteries to ensure that the fault is not with the batteries. But still the remote is not working. Can I fix the problem at home itself, kindly tell me how? I don't want to shell out any money for the remote. What options are left to me now?

Hello

There is a common problem with all the IR devices, as they get old, they start to lose sensivity and thus need a replacement, same is the case with tv remotes as well as the stereo system, AC and the computer.

You didn't mention here if your remote is new or an old one, if you could please specify we could help you better that way.

If your remote is a new one, you must check its an original one, some cheaper remotes do not work for long and soon become unusable. If you are sure you have an original and the correct make for your laptop then there may be other reasons for this problem. Check for a light or a beeping signal on the PC indiacating your IR device on the PC is working to recieve the signal, in case the reciever on the PC is not working, you can contact your laptop support service.

Hope this helped you
