How to import the MS money file from XP to Windows 7?

My old laptop which was loaded with xp was running very slow so I upgraded its drive and ram and also installed win 7 in it. There are some files of ms money in old window folder in c drive and I want to import MS money file from XP to Windows 7 environment. So tell me how to do it? Is there any online updates that can open the Money data file?

When updating or changing a data file, as in your case, a Money data file, note that these updates will be saved only if the data file is present in an unprotected area, like in your Documents folder. As currently your MS Money files that you wish to import to Windows 7 are stored in the old Windows folder in C drive, they are in a protected area. Try importing them to Windows 7 AFTER moving them to an unprotected area. If the MS Money is installed properly in your Windows 7, you should be able to move them.

If you still encounter problems, then the most likely cause may be that the files of your version of MS Money have been modified by the automatic online updates, but they are yet to be applied in your original installed version. To make sure that any online updates modifying the data files have been applied connect to the internet, right click the shortcut used to launch MS Money, then select the option ‘Run as administrator.’ This will apply all the modifications to the data files. You might need to carry out this step only the first time you launch MS Money.

If there are still problems, then you will need to check that MS Money has been installed properly on your system in the first place.
