When you install Outlook 2007, it automatically converts the Personal Address Book used in an earlier version of Microsoft Outlook. Outlook 2007 then adds the converted data to your Contacts folder in Outlook 2007.

If Outlook 2007 does not automatically convert your Personal Address Book, you can import it into Outlook 2007. To do this, follow these steps:

Start Outlook 2007.
In the Microsoft Office Button, click Import and Export.
Click Import from another program or file, and then click Next.
Click Personal Address Book and then click Next.
Click Browse, locate the Personal Address Book to import and click OK.

Note

Earlier versions of Outlook assign a file extension. Pab to a personal address book. By default, Outlook stores the Personal Address Book in the following folder:
C: Documents and Settings username Local Settings Application Data Microsoft Outlook
Click on Next.
Click Finish to import the Personal Address Book.

Although Outlook does periodically back up your file Bakup.pst content, we can make a copy whenever you want. This should save a copy on a disk other than where we have installed Outlook, since among other things helps us to retrieve mail, calendar, contacts, etc.. in case of failure or having to reinstall.

The process to create or restore a backup is easy, and while we offer several options in this tutorial we will focus on creating a. PST, which is what allows us to do this in a way quickly and conveniently.

This tutorial refers to the version of Outlook 2007, so that while the process is the same, may be some differences in the options if it comes earlier versions of Outlook. This tutorial is NOT valid for Outlook Express.
