iBamboo iPhone dock gets the Urban version, crafted from recycled plastic

Last year we first heard of the exciting iBamboo speaker, a natural iPhone dock machine cut from a single piece of bamboo trunk. The completely eco-friendly dock amplifies music from an iPhone or iPod thanks to the natural resonance of bamboo. Designer of the hyped-up iBamboo iPhone dock Anatoliy Omelchenko of Triangle Tree has now prototyped its plastic form, the iBamboo Speaker Urban, from recycled materials.

Though the iBamboo Speaker Urban lacks the much-respected bamboo trait of its wooden form, it still has a touch of nature as it consumes no power and is made of recycled plastic. Omelchenko was forced to build the plastic iBamboo speaker to answer the strong demand from customers, who feared that the bamboo-made iPhone dock might damage as they carry it around during their trips.

Omelchenko went on to build a prototype from recycled plastic materials. Well, he is now just testing the waters before entering into the mass production stage. Its designer says the new product doesn’t consume power, and works on the same resonance and amplification properties like its original bamboo design.

Major benefit of a plastic iBamboo speaker is that it is fit for use even in extreme conditions unlike its bamboo version. Yes, the plastic iBamboo is more durable and less prone to defects and damages. It will come in both solid and clear transparent colors and will be available for around $30. Currently, the plastic iBamboo is waiting for consumer feedback.
