Handheld unveils ugged new Algiz 10X tablet PC for field professionals

The Handheld Group, which is renowned for making mobile computers that can really withstand the elements, has just announced the launch of a new device that has been created to meet the needs of professionals working in the field. Dubbed the Algiz 10X, the new Handheld tablet PC measures just 32 mm and weighs a mere 2.9 lbs. fashioned to meet MIL-STD-810G military standards, the device is also IP65-rated and comes prepared to offer premium computing services in varying altitudes, extreme temperatures, drops, vibrations, water and dust.

The Algiz 10X is fronted by a 10.1 inch touchscreen display that comes laced with MaxView technology. The device offers features like wireless connectivity via fully integrated antennas and a modem, WWAN Gobi 3000-compatibility, WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, WAAS/EGNOS/MSAS compatibility and a u-blox GPS receiver.

The Handheld Algiz 10X comes with waterproof RS232, VGA and USB 2.0 ports, microSD-enabled SSD disk, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, dual-core Intel Atom N2800 processor and Windows 7 Ultimate though the company claims that the tablet is also Windows 8 ready. The tablet also comes with a LED flash-supported 5-megapixel camera. A pre-order for the Handheld Algiz 10X can be placed immediately and the tablet PC will be available for purchase in January 2013.
