Why my gtalk links open in IE?

Microsoft Windows operating system generally allocates a default browser for every unique profile you use on your system, if there are multiple browsers on your computer.

Default browser is used to describe the HTML URL that determines which browser to open, when you click on a HTML file or a internet shortcut such as GTalk. Though it might happen that some of the Microsoft’s mailing platform such Microsoft Outlook will open in Internet explorer, regardless of which default browser you have set.

In your case it might have happen that the system had set Internet Explorer as the default browser. So, every application is destined to be opened with Internet explorer itself. So, if you want to open the GTalk in Firefox whenever you click on GTalk, you will have to make Firefox as your default browser.

You can do this by opening the Firefox application then click on the tools tab (at the header) a window will open up. Click on the advanced tab and then select the option which talks about the default browser, usually at the bottom of the window.

All these will definitely solve your problem and you will be opening GTalk in Firefox instead of Internet explorer.
