Why is my GPS navigator not receiving GPS signal frequently?

I have a RightWay 400 GPS Navigator and when using it for directions the display shows the map with the message ‘No GPS Signal’ across the screen. This happens all the time. Yesterday I was on a 3 hour trip and the system error message was always displayed. I have tried powering the unit on and off. I also tried putting the device in different locations in the car as I drive. This problem seemed to start about a month ago when it took longer and longer for the system to determine its location - up to 1/2 hour. For the last two weeks, the system no longer detects any GPS signal in spite of being on in the car for several hours. Please advise if there is something I can do to correct this problem. The GPS system is great when it works. Thanks.

I am providing you the process by which GPS navigator can receive GPS signal frequently. If you are indoors, underwater or underground, GPS will not work. Get away from anything emitting electronic signals. Radio towers, cell phone towers, and other electronic signals can cause interference with GPS signals, leaving your receiver with little to no reception. Drive to one place where there is less cloud cover or, better yet, clear skies. Sometimes this may mean accepting a poor signal day if you are dealing with bad weather. The GPS signals slow down when traveling through the atmosphere, and most of the GPS receivers which calculate for this, but under the extremely cloudy and stormy conditions, you may then find the signal delayed even more, or may not receive one at all.
