Why is my GPS taking longer time to locate current position?

My Magellan Roadmate 1212 has been taking increasingly longer to determine its current position after power up. It takes 10 minutes or more to plot the trip after entered. I have tried power cycling. I have even tried canceling a route and then reentering it. I have tried switching screen with no success. Is that a sign it's on its way out, or do I need to clear old entries out of memory? Why is my GPS taking longer time to locate current position? What can I do correct it? Please advice. Thanks.

You should know that GPS system will not work if there is any obstruction in the way of data collection. So, the GPS system will search your exact location coordinates, which will give you the right latitude and longitude information. If you are staying in closed room, and the GPS system is searching from your closed location, then the GPS system may not get your location data. So, it is better to go out to the outside in the open air without any obstruction, and then you will get the exact location of your presence from your mobile phone. You may clear the web browser cookies in the regular interval, so that you will get the exact location of yours in the mobile phone. It may happen if your local weather is not good and the reception of GPS hub on the ground is poor, for the time being. So, you may expect some delay to receive your current location data on your mobile phone. Sometimes, it may be rare but when the solar wind rises to the highest peak of the season, then GPS system may get to disturb to find your current local position in your mobile. Therefore, you should use the open space where the GPS system of your mobile phone could get the signal without any problem.
