Google readies Samsung-made Nexus Tablet for October 29 launch

Microsoft is all set to unveil Windows 8 on October 29 and Apple is all set to launch its latest offering the iPad mini on October 23. Google, not wanting to be left behind in the list of headline makers, is rumored to be ready with a bunch of Jelly Bean ready devices including a 10-inch tablet codenamed Manta. Google has scheduled a press event in New York on October 23 which is expected to provide the tech press a valuable closer look at the company’s iPad rival.

Sources have revealed that the new device has been built by Samsung and is called the Nexus 10. The device will not be featuring Android Key Lime Pie though it will be offered with an updated version of Jelly Bean, the Android v4.2+. The 10-inch display of the tablet will support a 16:10 aspect 2560×1600 pixel resolution with roughly 300 pixels per inch that betters the 264 PPI the iPad comes with.

The Google-Samsung tablet is expected to be priced in a similar range to other Samsung offerings like the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 2 10. The new OS will allow users to use a widget to access the Play store and easily switch between several tablets to allow enterprise users and families to create a mini network for themselves.
