How about Garmin Edge 800 as a bicycle GPS?

I want to buy a bicycle GPS and I am thinking about the Garmin edge 800. I am not sure which version/bundle I should go for. I live in Ireland and cycle on roads here but am going on extended holiday touring to Europe this summer. I think I need Europe navigation. Does this cover the whole of Europe including the cities? Can you advise me appropriately? How about Garmin Edge 800 as a bicycle GPS? I would really appreciate your useful reviews regarding this GPS. Thanks.

Garmin is the first touchscreen GPS bike computer. With its GPS, rugged design, training tools, durability, touchscreen and compatibility with the misro-SD cards, this is sure one hell of a good thing to buy. The Edge® 800 should be the product of your choice. The base version is good and you could buy the necessary maps. The different versions have either different maps loaded or different health monitoring features. Have a look under the 'version' tab at the Garmin shop.

Coming to your navigation needs now.

To view the maps loaded on your unit and their version, touch Tools > Settings > Map > Map Info. If you do not have the map of your choice, you could sure buy one! Garmin offers a wide range of maps and charts to get you where you want to go. And that includes the entire europe. Go to Garmin and open the dropdown for 'view additional maps for this product' and have a look at the options avaialble. You could also make use of Garmin Connect to get in touch with other users who have uploaded tons of maps.
