Fully customizable Lego PC case hints at simplistic practicality

When it comes to Lego built contraptions we have covered a wealth of creations ranging from being adroitly innovative to being downright bizarre. But incredibly, among very few of these heartfelt, visually unique designs, we have come across the ardent essence of user oriented practicality. And now it seems, the novel Lego built computer case has finally met the demands of being simplistic yet ingenious; and more importantly for us, it scores high on pure convenience and flexibility.

Contrived by veteran Instructables modder Greenyouse, the plastic brick computer case may look a tad bit unadorned. But it is the 'customizable' nature of the whole conception that really tickles our senses.

Imagine you have salvaged and assembled all the components of a high-end CPU. But now, you need a solid case to house the paraphernalia of this boisterous circuitry. So, instead of utilizing some external panel covers, you create a modular casing consisting of hundreds (or even thousands) of vivacious Lego bricks.

This, in a nutshell, is what Greenyouse offered in his detailed Instructable tutorial. The ultimate form of the design alludes to a convenient modular scope. This is because, according to the modder, the 'end goal should be to make a case exactly how you want it to be'. This means, it entirely depends upon the user on how he wants the custom colors, theme, exterior and interior shape and even the spatial considerations on his final creation.

Of course, till now, we have only harped about the fascinating scope of flexibility in this project. But, on the other hand, one obviously has to master the basics of Lego oriented structures along with computer models related knowledge and building. For example, in regard to some of the fundamental design steps, you have to deftly follow a few procedures like creating brick mosaics and even using programs like Lego Digital Designer. Now, all of these directions may entail an extended time period of construction and higher expenses (though, as a DIY enthusiast, you expected that anyway). Furthermore, the case has every chance to remain hot when activated, as Lego bricks are traditionally not conducive to dissipation of heat energy. Though it is not our intention to discourage future modders and aficionados, by these so-called disadvantages.

As a matter of fact, beyond the customizable allure, the Lego casing has every chance to be sturdily built with enhanced longevity, as well as practicality. This is because you can adjust some individual components or even redesign a section of the case according to your life long processing needs.

So at the end of the day, with the possibilities being nigh endless, a dedicated user can certainly formulate his innovative ideas and see them take a credible yet satisfactory Lego based form.
