The FreeNAS can be run from the 128MB - 2GB USB Flash Drive. The benefit of the procedure is that all HD space can be reserved for the server duties.

To create the USB image without having to burn the CD on Windows follow the following steps:

Download the Physdiskwrite

Read the warnings about the selecting USB stick correctly.

Download the current 0.69 Free NAS IMG file (not ISO) from the Source forge.

Plug the USB stick (128MB - 2GB size) in the Windows PC and format all disk as FAT (right-click -> Format; select FAT not FAT32).

Now To eliminate the errors make sure that only the target disk is connected on it and "Safely Remove" the USB stick, and then reinsert it again.

Drag the Free NAS IMG file into the Phydiskwrite icon in the Windows File Manager.

Now "Safely Remove" the USB stick.

You now have the FreeNAS LiveUSB!

Hope these information comes good for you.
