How do I force increase XP resolution?

I have a fairly new PC which is about a year old. It has Windows XP as its operating system and I have been pretty satisfied with its performance for the past one year except for one thing, its low resolution. The resolution for it is so low that I can barely see anything on my system. I cannot slide the resolution bar thing and the only option for color is 4-bit. Now I am really in a mess with what should I do to change the low resolution? IS there any way that I can force increase its resolution?

I was facing the same problem two months ago. I have got an old dell laptop, its resolution is too low that when I use to watch any video or good quality pictures on it at that time I face lot’s of problem regarding their resolution quality. It really became so bad for me at that time. So for the removing of the problem completely I have purchased a new graphics card NVIDEA 6500 for my system after that whole graphics of my computer become just incredible. Now it gives really the best resolution in its screen and support all the high quality audio and media files. So you can do the same for the removing of the graphics related problem from your computer. If you want to spend less dollar than you can buy and use the intel media accelerator graphics card. Hope it will remove your problem completely. It was really nice to help you.
